ABOUT ABOUT

To celebrate Philly Tech Week, The University of the Arts School of Music, in conjunction with WXPN and The Corzo Center for the Creative Economy, present a series of esteemed professionals sharing their thoughts and opinions on how the intersection of music and technology are influencing one another, and where their partnership might lead.  The event will also feature a panel discussion and musical performances, followed by a unique opportunity to mix and mingle with some of Philly's finest music and tech-savvy professionals over light refreshments.

There is no avoiding it: technology has pushed music into new places and spaces with varying affects and one clear result: every "twist of the knob" leads to more creativity.  The inventions of the past two centuries (from the gramophone of the 19th Century, to the rapid rise and changes in the 20th Century) have taken us on a wonderful ride--a journey passing through the advent of radio, film, cassettes, and CDs, followed by the final "game-changer" of the last Millennium: Napster.

In the present, incredible changes and daily developments in the worlds of music and technology are evolving in every possible direction--from the way music is created, produced, distributed, and sold--but especially in how it's being consumed.  This has left both industries shaking their heads with more questions than answers.

So we ask, in 2014: Music + Technology = ________?
