ABOUT ABOUT

Seeing your photographic images on a computer screen is great, but now you are ready to translate your hard work into a more substantive print. How do you ensure your work looks as amazing on paper as it does digitally?

Join Philadelphia Photo Arts Center’s Education Coordinator, Josh Brilliant and Master Print and Lab Manager, Keith Yarling to learn how to create prints that match your aesthetic intention and creative vision at the Digital Artist Lab at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center (PPAC).

Join us at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center for discussion and demonstration of the Digital Artist Lab’s museum quality inkjet printing and high-resolution film scanning. Demonstration followed by a tour of facilities and information on additional educational opportunities at PPAC. Participants will receive a discount on classes and services discussed during the presentation.

Josh Brilliant is an artist and educator originally from New Jersey. He received his BA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University, his MA in Museum Studies from Syracuse University, and his MFA in Studio Art from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. He has taught courses in art history, photography and art criticism. He currently teaches at the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design and The College of New Jersey.

Keith Yahrling is an artist who has exhibited work at ClampArt, the Gelman Gallery, the Visual Studies Workshop, George A. Spiva Center for the Arts, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania. He received his MFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has years of experience digitally printing and producing work for other artists.

The Digital Artist Lab at PPAC provides two options that enable artists to produce high quality prints and scans. The first is geared towards artists who would like to remain in control and produce their own work in the Lab. The Lab gives individual access to museum quality inkjet printing and high-resolution film scanning in a setting that provides ample workspace and magnetic print viewing walls. The second track offers artists the option to have PPAC produce the work for them by using PPAC’s Services. The Services include archival inkjet printing on a wide range of papers and substrates up to 64 inches wide. PPAC also offers high resolution film scanning, professional retouching, and file preparation.

Made possible through the generous support of The Knight Foundation with support of the Center for Emerging Visual Artists.
